- So in short we are developing Innovative and Digital solutions for Communities (targeting the Rural and Peri-urban areas , and for the Commercial Market. The Apps are (OS)Android packaged to start, IOS, IS, Nokia windows to follow soon.
Diepsloot Kasi Hive is a registered Co-operative (Business), we are a small IT Startup(a Web, Software, and Mobile App development company) with creative and pro-active young members, and was established on 10 March 2014, we are located in the North of Johannesburg in Diepsloot within the (Bophelong Sports Centre, at the Jozi Business Hub, inside the Methodist Church Premises). Our team is of a diversified structure with skills, experience, and qualifications: Developers: BSc Computer Science, National IT Diploma, Web and Software Development, Software Engineering, BCom Accountants, HR and Office Administrators, Electrical Engineering student and Public Relations Officer, and Marketing Personnel for New Business Development.

This is our journey with the City of Joburg…”From a 143 number of applications received by the City to participate in the 2015 challenge, we then fought our way down to the Finalist Top 10 of the last men standing, have met with IBM and Seed Academy through this journey and we appreciate support they have offered to date, we are currently being Mentored by these Corporates to ensure we deliver Final working solutions”.
The City of Johannesburg in partnership with Wits University, earlier this year launched an initiative to give Johannesburg based innovators who want to make a change in their community, an opportunity to turn their ideas into a startup through the#Hack.Jozi Challenge.
The challenge was for entrepreneurs to come up with digital solutions to solve the every day challenges faced by their communities. Described as a boot camp for startup entrepreneurs, the challenge was open to either individuals or teams with the relevant technical capabilities with an innovative idea using the power of digital technology.

The overall winner will walk away with R1 million, with the first and second runner ups taking home R350 000 cash prizes each. The winners will also receive one year free hosting credit for their business applications from IBM.

Innovator: Diepsloot Kasi Hive innovation: Digital Booking System for Public Clinics.
Diepsloot based entrepreneurs Johannes Nkale, Hazel Mahlaba, Lesiba Setumu, Refilwe Mokomane and Sipho Ngobeni, are the brains behind Diepsloot Kasi Hive. Their Health Mobile App hopes to provide Solution to the long queues experienced by many people seeking Healthcare in Public Hospitals and Clinics in different parts and Townships within the Gauteng Province. “Nkale says the App allows patients to book appointments from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones. He also said that taking part in the challenge has been a great educational opportunity for him and the rest of the team, and has also given them the exposure they needed”.
